Ruger LC Carbine

Just found this forum. Looks like it needs some activity so here goes:

About a week ago, I saw one of the first postings about the Ruger LC Carbine on the Ruger forum. At that time, I I must admit that I knew nothing about the 5.7 x 28 round. I did some research and learned a little about it’s history and various applications (ie., Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies).

On 9-10-22, I saw and handled one in person at a local gun show, and found that I really liked it. In the last two days, I was able to order one for $754 plus shipping along with 5 boxes of FN SS197SR 40GR. V-MAX 5.7X28MM AMMO, at $39.00 a box plus $20 shipping. I also was able to order two OEM Ruger 20 round magazines to round out my first venture into the 5.7 x 28 world.

I will post my range experience as soon as I get a chance.

Just picked up the Ruger LC Carbine 5.7X28 and had to the range for the 1st time today. I never would have considered it but my retina specialist has been after me for awhile to lower the recoil on my long guns. I previously had gotten the PC Carbine in 9mm and the HI-Point (don't laugh) carbine in .45ACP. The 5.7X28 certainly fits the bill when it comes to low recoil. It's like shooting my Ruger 10-22M. I shot at an indoor range off-hand at 25 yards. After 10 rounds I was consistently getting in the 9 & 10 rings. Really like the sights on it. If I ever get back to the outdoor range I'll put it on the bench and take it out to 50 and 100 yards to see how it does.

This thing is absolutely great. Slipped a Sig Romeo5 red dot on it and took it to the range. Shot it at 10 yards and it was one raged hole. Almost the same at 25 yards. The flip up sights can be used right through the Sig red dot scope (love this feature).

I ordered the 5 shot mag extension as well as the mag loader from the Ruger Shop and they both work great. You will love the loader since your fingers get a little sore loading 20 rounds without it.

You have to play with it a little to get the stock to unfold from it's folded position but it is smoothing out real nice. I did move the charging handle to the right side which works better for me.

Windage was correct for the red dot and flip up sights. I did crank the front sight all the way down since the POI was a little low. However, I just realized that was only because of parallax from shooting at 10 yards. Will readjust it next time I am at the range.

With the issues the pistol has folks are skittish.

You still need to throw out the Ruger mags and use the PSA Rock mags if you want 100 percent reliability.
