Learned something new (to me) today, Idaho has scorpions & they're fast, sneaky little buggers. Out shooting in the boonies today I found one near the targets, scooped it up in cup someone had left & carried it back to the truck. The whole time it played dead & didn't move. Dumped it out on my hood, went to grab my phone to take a pic, turned around & it was gone.
I had heard & read numerous times that they are here but hadn't seen one before today.

Never read that they were that tricky though, the scorpion played opossum :D

What color and size was it?

Mostly yellow, kinda small. Not including the claws or the tail, I bet the body could have fit on a 50cent piece.

Looking at pics for this region, it kinda looked like the yellow ground scorpion but with a little more black to it. The pics for the northern scorpion show one with a little too much black coloring. Maybe a half-breed? :D

Well Bic lighter length body, black and scary looking=wasp bite.

Small 50cent piece size body, amber colored deadly AF.

According to the interwebs, none of the common species in Idaho are all that poisonous to humans - sure it hurts but they're not deadly. Of course, that is just the common species & doesn't include any scorpions someone brought in & released either by intention or accident (i.e. hitch hiker on the undercarriage).

It was the only one I've seen in Idaho so far and I have no intentions of handling one by hand in any case so I'm not too concerned. I was using a stick just to pick up the board I found it under but my fear was of finding rattlesnakes. So, now I have another reason to be leery of lifting boards to use as targets :D Still won't stop me from doing it though

HAHA Yeah just like according to IL experts the Brown recluse spider can't survive in northern IL. I know 2 people, one my father , whom both have been bit by them up here. Insects have a habit of not caring what the experts say about where they can and can't live.

Yup. That's why I referred to it as "interwebs" & made sure I mentioned that it was only in reference to the common species.
Without a pic, I can't get any more specific as to what kind it was.
Maybe I'll find another one now that I'll be looking for them? I'll get a pic of that one if/when I do.

There's a place in Texas that let's you ride in, drive, & shoot tanks & other such stuff as well as having big guns to shoot. I know there are some people on the forum who are into that sort of thing <cough>Jay<cough> & thought I might pass along some info. It's expensive but maybe it's worth it to some people?

Scammers are getting lazy, they're using robocallers to sucker people now. One left a voicemail for me today, here's as much as I got: "And once it get expired after that you will be taken under custody by the local cops as there are four serious allegations pressed on your name at this moment. Get back to us so that we can discuss about this case before taking any legal action against you. The number to reach us is 8887266443, I repeat 8887266443. Thank you"
I googled the number, it's an IRS tax scam. Yes, I reported it. The computer generated voice was too much, I was LMAO.

I posted about this on my FB & that seems to be common. I usually get the "problem with your credit card" robocalls but it's a person on the recording. This is the first time I've gotten the computer speaking the script.
They can make a computer talk but they can't use a grammar check function? Still wouldn't have worked mind you but I wouldn't have laughed as much :D

Learnt a new aviation phrase today, "lithobraking maneuver". From lithos meaning stone, and braking meaning to slow or stop.
It means to stop because it hit the ground.

It's going to be one of those days...
Just had someone plow a stolen car through my fence while trying to elude the cops. He got stuck about halfway though it, now I'm getting a new fence. In the meantime, anyone know where I can get a large inflatable Kool-Aid Man?

Y'all know those pencil torches right? Does anyone know if there is something like that for freezing instead of heating/burning?

Admittedly I'm just being a bit of a sadist but I want to freeze a black widow & her egg sack without blowing them all over.
An inverted can of compressed air like Dust Off can expel liquid capable of that but it's too forceful, will probably blow her away. Maybe I should just practice a bit?

I should note this is at work & I'm not supposed to be goofing around like that. Also, she's on a fuel line, hence the freezing & not laser burning.

Too late, I used the inverted air can method. She didn't like it but didn't run so she dead. I soaked the egg sac too at full blast, didn't send it flying. Theoretically it can't survive freezing but I still kinda wanna burn it.
Meh, I'll leave it.

Electricity question:
If one was to introduce a voltage (say via a stun gun) into a chain which had the far end grounded while someone wearing rubber boots was holding the chain, would chain holder still feel it?
Kinda thinking no...

Not quite what I was talking about but close enough I think.
As long as the meathead holding the chain wasn't grounded, the electricity wouldn't hurt her

Damnit...

Re: Completely unrelated

Yep, it shows how the power would just pas through with no effect.

You have to figure out how to ground the meathead.
